Fo Guang Shan,a religious shrine where monks and disciples enjoy equality, integrates Buddhist culture, education, dharma, pilgrimage, charity, and tourism at home and abroad, in ancient and modern times, and has the characteristics of schools and welfares as well as the popularized and internationalized characteristics. All its buildings displayed the Master’s ideas and spirits of building “a pure land on earth”. Fo Guang Shan was originally a barren mountain. Within only several decades, it has been established as the first Buddhist Order in Taiwan. The magnificence of its buildings, spaciousness of its temples, sculptures of its Buddhist statues, designs of its courtyards, and the arrangement of its palace are unusual and unique.

The Sanyi Wood Sculpture is the only public museum in Taiwan that is based on wood sculpture. It was built in its aim to promote the arts of wood sculpture.The themes of exhibition include The Introduction of Wood Sculpture, the Styles of Each Chinese Dynasty, The Origins of Sanyi Wood Sculpture, Wood Sculpture Exhibition Hall, Temples Deities, Architecture & Furniture etc. Each of the themes is with concrete presentation of the beauty of wood sculpture for the publics first-hand experience on the application and arts of the wood sculpture.
